SARED: A Self-Adaptive Active Queue Management Scheme for Improving Quality of Service in Network Systems

چکیده

Considering the phenomenal growth of network systems, congestion remains a threat to quality service provided in such hence, research on control is still relevant. Internet community regards Active Queue Management (AQM) as an effective approach address systems. Most existing AQM schemes possess static drop patterns and lack self-adaptation mechanism, don’t work well for networks where traffic load fluctuates. This paper proposes Self-Adaptive Random Early Detection (SARED) scheme which smartly adapts its pattern based current network’s order maintain better stable performance. In light moderate conditions, SARED operates nonlinear modes maximize utilization throughput, while high condition, it switches linear mode avoid forced drops congestion. Experiments conducted have revealed that regardless load’s provides optimal

Adaptive Virtual Buffer(AVB)-An Active Queue Management Scheme for Internet Quality of Service

In this paper we present a virtual queue based active queue management scheme called Adaptive Virtual Buffer(AVB). We study its properties in satisfying the QoS requirement such as low packet loss rate and high throughput; its ability in maintaining stable queue length under various network configurations such as the number of connections and round trip delay; and its robustness in the presence...

Traffic Sensitive Active Queue Management for Improved Quality of Service

The Internet, traditionally FTP, e-mail and Web traffic, is increasingly supporting emerging applications such as IP telephony, video conferencing and online games. These new genres of applications have different requirements in terms of throughput and delay than traditional applications. For example, interactive multimedia applications, unlike traditional applications, have more stringent dela...

Improving Internet Quality of Service through Active Queue Management in Routers

The traffic characteristics of real-time and non real-time applications require a certain Quality of Service (QoS) from the Internet in terms of bandwidth, delay, packet loss, fairness and jitter. However, most of the current Active Queue Management (AQM) algorithms at the internet routers do not guarantee QoS for real time traffics such as video and audio. This is because; most of the algorith...

IAPI: An intelligent adaptive PI active queue management scheme

Internet traffic is bursty and unpredictable. It is therefore important to control congestion to protect users from traffic surges in a way that is efficient, stable and robust. Research has shown that active queue management (AQM) has the potential to control congestion such that these requirements are met. However, despite much work and many published proposals of AQM algorithms, a satisfacto...

Adaptive management of an Active Service Network

The benefits of active services and networks cannot be realised unless the associated increase in system complexity can be efficiently managed. An adaptive management solution is required. Simulation results show that a distributed genetic algorithm, inspired by observations of bacterial communities, can offer many key management functions. The algorithm is fast and efficient, even when the dem...
